Overview

The Tempe Impact Education (TIE) Foundation is a group of caring volunteer ambassadors who support Tempe Elementary School District’s children. The foundation is dedicated to providing assistance to the children of Tempe Elementary Schools so that family financial constraints do not limit any child from having a full, rich and rewarding educational experience. TIE provides a variety of resources to children, from clothing to musical instrument rentals to scholarships.

Since its inception, TIE has contributed to Tempe Elementary students and staff in the following ways: $90,000 to Connecting with Kids; $20,000 to the Summer Enrichment Program; $126,000 in Scholarships to teachers and classified staff; $5,000 to the music program and $5,000 for awards and recognition. The Tempe Impact Education (TIE) Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with ID#86-0670224 and has United Way #1274.

Awards

Tempe Impact Education (TIE) Scholarships
Twice a year, the Tempe Impact Education (TIE) Foundation awards scholarships to Certified and Classified employees. It's time for the Summer/Fall scholarships to be awarded. The deadline for submittal is Monday, October 25, 2010. The application forms have been updated, and only the forms marked "Revised 7-10-10" will be accepted. These forms can be found at the bottom of the page.  Applicants can submit classes taken and completed between October 2009 and October 2010.  Documentation (grades and tuition cost) needs to be submitted with application.

The Joseph P. Spracale Commitment to Education Award
The Joseph P. Spracale Commitment to Education Award is given annually to recognize an employee of the district who has made or is making a significant contribution to education in the Tempe Elementary School District. This contribution has to have been for 10 years or more. (Current TIE Foundation Board members are not eligible for the Award.) The award will be presented by the Tempe Impact Education Foundation at the Annual Joseph P. Spracale Awards Dinner.

To nominate a deserving person, family or group, please click on the link at the bottom of the page to download a nomination form. Nominations should be submitted by February 4, 2010; selection will be made by the Selection Committee as appointed by the TIE Foundation Board.

Events

TIE & Kiwanis Club Host 43rd Annual Golf Tournament

TD3 employees and friends are invited to participate in the 43rd Annual Golf Tournament on May 15, 2010 at the Ken McDonald Municipal Golf Course in Tempe.  This event, hosted by the Tempe Impact Education (TIE) Foundation and Sunrise Kiwanis, benefits TD3 students and staff.

The cost is $80 per person or $320 for a foursome.  Per request, you can be matched with a team if you are participating as a single player.

Some programs that are supported by this tournament are:

  • "Connecting With Kids," which provides school supplies, clothing, shoes and medical supplies to TD3 students
  • Musical instruments for TD3 students
  • Math, Science, and Music Awards
  • Staff Scholarships Reimbursement Program
  • Beans and Rice Program

Connecting with Kids


Connecting with Kids is a service center funded through the TIE Foundation to provide everyday essentials to students in need so they can attend school ready to learn. Volunteers process, sort, clean and store clothing and personal articles. Tempe Elementary students are in need of:

• new socks
• new underclothes
• new or gently used backpacks
• gently used clothing
• personal hygiene items (such as soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.)
• school supplies
• cash contributions (for purchasing above-mentioned items as well as prescriptions, eye and dental care, etc.)
• volunteers to help out in the service center

You may designate your United Way donation to the TIE Foundation (code #1274) and help TIE continue to help the children, teachers and staff of Tempe Elementary.
