Fuller Becomes One in Five AZ Schools Nominated for National Blue Ribbon Award
Fuller Elementary School has been nominated by Arizona to join the highly revered community of National Blue Ribbon Schools.
Since its inception in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has recognized more than 7,000 Great American Schools. Each year, representatives of newly recognized schools gather for a ceremony in Washington, D.C. where their achievement is officially honored by the U.S. Department of Education.
National Blue Ribbon Schools are public and non-public elementary, middle, and high schools that have produced outstanding results for all students. These schools demonstrate consistent excellence and progress student achievement. The National Blue Ribbon Schools recognition program is part of a larger U.S. Department of Education effort to identify and distribute knowledge about effective school leadership and promising instructional practices.
Fuller Elementary is one of five outstanding public schools that Arizona has nominated for an “Exemplary High Performing Schools” performance award. Fuller has become eligible for this award by being among the top 15 percent of schools in the state when ranked on the performance of all students who participated in the most recently administered state assessments in reading (or English language arts) and mathematics. This ranking may also include assessment results in other subject areas and/or performance measures, such as attendance.completeness, quality, and accuracy by the U.S. Department of Education. In September, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will announce the 2016 National Blue Ribbon Schools.
We congratulate Fuller on their nomination! For more information about the award criteria and eligibility, please visit the U.S. Department of Education Eligibility and Criteria website.
