The Superintendent’s Office supervises all activities and personnel for Tempe Elementary Schools. The office works closely with administrative staff and Governing Board members to help guide district policies and strategies.

The Associate Superintendent works in partnership with the Superintendent, and in collaboration with the departments of Community Affairs and Marketing, Special Needs and English Language Learning to serve all schools in meeting the academic, social and emotional needs of all TD#3 children.

The Community Affairs and Marketing Department oversees public and media relations in addition to coordinating the marketing and advertising activities for the District. The department utilizes video, print and web media to market Tempe Elementary Schools.

Provides appropriate instruction and methodologies for students who speak English as a second language, enabling them to become orally and academically proficient in all areas of English. The department also includes Foreign Language.

Supports the efforts of elementary and middle school principals as they provide programs to increase student achievement, deliver exceptional customer service, and explore creative opportunities for teaching and learning. The department includes 19 elementary schools, one K-8 traditional school, four middle schools, the Intervention Learning Program, as well as the Indian Education Program.

Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment encompasses all of the educational services areas such as: Gifted Services (PACE and Honors), all Curricular and Instructional programs including Music, Physical Education and Visual Arts Programs as well as Professional Development, Early Childhood and Assessment and Evaluation. For more information on district programs, click here. The division also coordinates Summer School Programs and After School Childcare. Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment focuses on educating children by providing them the skills and knowledge they will need for success in high school.

Implement, conduct analyses and report results of state and district assessments. Review, verify, and assist with interpretation and use of state and federal accountability designations. Collaborate with school and district staff on school improvement efforts. Provide research and evaluation services.

Spring 2008 testing dates:
April 7-8 - TerraNova (state norm-referemced test, grade 2)
April 7-11 - AIMS DPA (state standards test, grades 3-8)
April 14-17 - AIMS DPA make-ups
*April 16 - May 16 - NWEA MAP (district reading and math tests, grades 2-8)
* May 2-16 - DIBELS (district early literacy tests, grades K-3)

* Each class of students is tested on a scheduled date during this test window.


Early Childhood

Supports preschool and kindergarten through third grade programs in the district with grants management, training, and technical assistance. The Early Childhood Block Grant helps provide full-day kindergarten in TD3, preschool programs at Evans, Frank, Holdeman, Nevitt and Wood Elementary Schools, and tuition assistance for Getz peers or private preschool placements.

Finance

The Finance Department is responsible for all the financial activities of the district. Specific areas of responsibility include budget, financial reports, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, fixed asset accounting, student activity funds, tax credit accounting and grant reporting.

The Human Resources Department oversees the recruitment and placement of certified and classified personnel and the management of employee records and benefits.
