Tempe Elementary
School District is a great place for children and parents. Once
you learn more about our schools, I trust you will find exceptional
learning
opportunities.
Our district is located
in the heart of the “Valley of the Sun.” It encompasses
an area approximately 36 square miles, part of which is in Phoenix
and the
Town of Guadalupe, but the majority is in Tempe. In addition, our
district is located in the heart of a university community, Arizona
State University.
Tempe Elementary
School District consists of 18 elementary schools grades kindergarten
through five, a developmental special needs preschool, an Intervention
Learning Program for middle school age students, four middle schools
grades six through eight and our newly opened Ward Traditional Academy
for kindergarten through eighth grade. Once our students complete
their middle school education, they typically move into high schools
in the Tempe Union High School District.
As we look to the
future and the changing needs of our community and the global environment
at large, we recognize the need to adapt to the learning and educational
needs of students constantly. We have committed to some specific
goals:
• To
improve student achievement for all children, at all schools, at
all grades and all subject areas;
• To
provide an environment to take risks; and
• To
provide exceptional customer service.
We believe in a
strong system of parent and community involvement. As you will find,
this is just one attribute that makes our schools, our students and
our families successful and satisfied with the educational services
in our district.
Sincerely,
Dr. Arthur W. Tate, Jr.
Superintendent
