On the first day of school, August 10, 2010, Carminati students will have new teachers, new classrooms, and a new uniform dress code.

The new uniform policy includes navy blue or khaki bottoms and burgundy, gold, or white tops. The policy will be enforced at Carminati Elementary School for the 2010-11 school year and strictly enforced starting January 3, 2011.  

The Carminati Site Council discussed the topic of school uniforms and felt they will contribute to the students’ sense of pride and distinction. The council recommended that the Carminati families vote on the subject. Families were encouraged to vote on the uniform policy during parent-teacher conferences in March 2010. There were 226 “yes” votes out of 359 families and 29 “yes” votes out of 38 staff members. 

This policy was voted on and approved by the Governing Board at the June 9, 2010 Governing Board meeting.
