About Our School

Getz School strives to create partnerships with the families and agencies that serve its students. We specialize in services for students with developmental delays. Students 3-5 years old attend school 2.5-4.0 hours per day, 4 days per week. There are currently 9 preschool classrooms, 8 of which include children with and without delays and 1 class for children with significant communication and sensory issues.
Additionally, we have one classroom for students, preschool through 8th grade, having significant developmental delays and health needs.

Our teachers all have teaching certification in early childhood and/or special education. One of the most unique aspects of our program is that we utilize a “reverse inclusion” model, by having typically developing preschoolers in class with our preschoolers with developmental delays.

All of our speech therapists team with a preschool teacher two of the four days that children are at school, including a bi-lingual speech therapist. There are three teaching assistants who serve our students having limited English proficiency. A full time Psychologist, two Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and an Adaptive PE teacher also serve eligible students on the Getz campus. The preschool classrooms have 13-15 students, 9-11 with special needs and 4 typically developing peer models. Each teacher has a full time assistant in the class with her/him.

Getz offers monthly special events to supplement the preschool language-based curriculum, parent seminars, bus transportation to and from school, and screenings for 3-5 year olds who live within the Tempe District #3 boundaries.

Keep watching our website to learn about the new and exciting plans we have for Getz in the future!

Sincerely,

Dr. Jane Rupard
Principal
