Tempe Elementary School District consists of 18 elementary schools [most grades K-5 with the exception of Laird Elementary (K-7)] and 4 middle schools (grades 6 - 8). Newly opened August 2005 is Ward Traditional Academy (K-8) and soon to open August 2008 is the brand new Scales Technology Academy (K-5) as well as two additional completely rebuilt schools Holdeman Elementary (K-5) and Thew Elementary (K-5). The district also has a preschool program and an Intervention Learning Program educational center.
