Relationships Matter: TD3 Mechanics Serve Free, Hot Breakfast to Brogan Staff
The crackle of sizzling fried eggs and the smell of hamburger meat and hash browns filled the air on Thursday morning. However, this wasn’t at a breakfast diner – it was at the Tempe Elementary Brogan Center.
For the second year in a row, Fleet Manager Gilbert Gonzales has organized a free, hot breakfast at the Brogan Center. With the help of his staff of mechanics, Gonzales cooked and served breakfast all morning long to any employee who came by.
“As little as this is, this makes a huge difference,” said Gonzales. “It’s all about bringing people together and showing appreciation to our staff.”
Brogan staff were able to enjoy breakfast sandwiches complete with eggs, bacon, hamburger patties, cheese, and all the fixings. Desserts and soft drinks were also served, including brownies and cake. Gonzales purchased all the food for this breakfast himself!
“Our motto this year is ‘relationships matter’ and it makes me so proud that Gilbert is an example of that motto,” said Director of Transportation and Safety Jessica Palmer.
The line kept building with each passing minute as employees happily ate their food and connected with one another. Jimmy Loza, Families in Transit (FIT) driver and bus driver in training, was one of those happy customers!
“I’ve only been with the District since April, but I definitely know I’ll be staying around for awhile,” said Loza. “This is a great place to work.”
Thank you, Gilbert for making a difference in our community!
