In December, 32,000 total pounds of beans and rice were donated to Tempe Elementary schools which served more than 1,800 families. The program began in 1993 with the Wilkins family donating 2,000 pounds of beans and rice to Frank Elementary School. This year, beans and rice were delivered to all 22 of the District’s elementary and middle schools.

An additional 16,000 pounds of beans and rice were procured and distributed to fourteen Tempe Elementary schools to be donated to families in need.

Thank you to our school staff, Facilities Management for Learners staff, and the Tempe Fire Department for contributing to the program’s success by helping to distribute beans and rice to our Tempe Elementary schools.
