TD3 Teachers, Student Win Awards from Arizona Art Education Association
The Arizona Art Education Association recently named Gililland Middle School eighth-grader Julia Gonzales Ortiz a winner in the 2019-2020 Youth Art Month Contest!
Julia worked with Gililland Middle School Art Teacher Paige Reesor to figure out the best way to involve Arizona and the theme, “Take a Journey Through Art,” into a desirable composition.
As the winner representing the state of Arizona, her artwork will be turned into a flag and will be shown at the National Art Education Conference. In March 2020, the Arizona Department of Education will have her artwork displayed at the Capitol for Youth Art Month. In addition, Julia will receive $500 in art supplies, along with $1,000 to go toward art supplies for Ms. Reesor’s classroom.
“I feel incredibly proud of Julia, and I cannot wait to share the exciting news with her!” Reesor said about the award.
Congratulations to Julia Gonzales Ortiz and Paige Reesor for winning this well-deserved recognition!
Additional celebrations from the Arizona Art Education Association Fall conference were Tempe Elementary Art Teachers Janay Wiggins (Connolly) winning Middle School Art Teacher of the Year, and Hailey Hatch (Fees) receiving the Emerging Leader award. Congratulations to these individuals for their commitment to the arts and positively impacting students!
