Aguilar Earns Prestigious A+ School of Excellence Honors

Aguilar Elementary is shining brighter than ever, proudly earning the coveted A+ School of Excellence® Award from the Arizona Education Foundation (AEF). Aguilar is one of 53 Arizona schools to receive this prestigious honor for 2025 and will hold the title until 2029 when the school can choose to go through the renewal process.
The A+ School of Excellence Award highlights the best-of-the-best in education and is considered the highest state-level recognition given to a public school. Since 1983, AEF has been recognizing schools through this award who consistently demonstrate:
- Commitment to quality and opportunity for all students
- High standards for academic achievement
- Responsiveness to the evolving educational landscape
- Safe, learner-focused environments
- Support for innovative, teacher-led instruction
- Holistic care for students’ social, academic, and intellectual needs
- Outstanding service to children, families and their community
The rigorous selection process not only requires schools to complete a lengthy application, but also host a site visit and a panel interview with members of the school community, including parents, staff, and students.
In addition to the A+ award, for the second year in a row, Aguilar Elementary received an ‘A’-rating by the Arizona Department of Education. These achievements underscore Aguilar’s unwavering commitment to providing an exceptional education for every student, empowering them to free their boundless potential.
Aguilar is one of three schools in the district that hold the A+ School of Excellence Title. Other district schools include Nevitt Elementary (2023-2027) and Arredondo Elementary (2024-2028). Congratulations again to the Wildcat community for this honor!
