Conveniently located close to a number of leading employers in Arizona, many of our families commute, utilizing our convenient before and afterschool care as a way to balance school choice and work. OPEN ENROLLMENT allows families to apply for admission to a school of their choice, even if it's out of their designated boundary, as long as space permits.
Policy JFB "Open Enrollment" states - upon the first day of the application opening, the District will hold a first open enrollment application period for two weeks with a lottery-based system for priority categories (returning students, siblings of resident transfer and nonresident students currently enrolled at the school, children of a district employee, new resident transfer student or new nonresident student). After the first open enrollment application period, open enrollment applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis with no priority categories.
Our Specialty Schools
In addition to Open Enrolling to any of our neighborhood schools, Tempe Elementary Schools has five specialty schools that require all students to Open Enroll:

- ASPIRE Academy at Connolly*
- McKemy Academy for International Studies*
- Meyer Montessori
- Ward Traditional Academy
