To make Tempe Academy an internationally recognized middle school by offering young scholars a small school environment where the unique needs of individuals are at the heart of learning supported by innovative, inspiring, and dedicated educators, utilizing the most advanced resources available to promote fresh thinking, learning, creating, and communication to make a positive impact in the local and broader global community.
In 2013, the Tempe Elementary School District started the process to implement the renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) academic program at the Tempe Academy of International Studies. During the candidacy phase, the school took all the actions necessary to address the IB requirements for authorization. This included professional development to ensure that teachers are trained in IB-recognized activities related to their subject areas or roles. Teachers had access to the IB online curriculum centre, where they obtained IB publications and teaching materials and participated in online forums on program-related topics with their colleagues from schools around the world. In July of 2015, The Tempe Academy of International Studies became an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. As an IB World School, Tempe Academy is part of a global community of schools committed to developing knowledgeable, caring young people who will be ready to negotiate their futures successfully and make contributions resulting in a more harmonious and peaceful world.
