Review Tempe Elementary Schools' Anti-Hazing Policy

The Arizona State Board of Education assigns letter grades to public schools in Arizona. The system measures year-to-year student academic growth, proficiency on English language arts, math, and science. It also includes the proficiency and academic growth of English language learners and indicators that an elementary student is ready for success in high school.

2023-2024 School Letter Grades

The A – F letter grade system was passed by the Arizona Legislature and by the State Board of Education to provide information to parents about Arizona public schools. It is designed to place value on both the current year student achievement, as well as student yearly academic growth.

Child Find a process to “find” children who may have a delay in development or a disability in any of the following areas:

• Vision and Hearing
• Motor Control or Coordination
• Behavior or Social Skills
• Speech or Language Skills
• Thinking or Performing Tasks
• Adaptive Behavior (self care)

The Arizona Early Intervention Program and local schools can help children with disabilities from birth through 21 years old. They provide early intervention and special education services for eligible children. There are no costs for Child Find services.

Pursuant to Arizona House Bill 2439, districts are required to make a list of all books and materials purchased for any of the District’s libraries available for the public to review for 60 days after purchase is approved.

Open Enrollment allows families to apply for admission to a school of their choice, even if it's out of their designated boundary, as long as space permits.

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a major federal legislative act that is designed to protect the civil rights of individuals with disabilities. The intent of this act is to prevent any form of discrimination based on disabilities.

All instruction is aligned to the Arizona State Standards outlined by the Arizona Department of Education. 

These standards maps have been created to inform students, families, and members of our community of the learning standards for each grade level and content area. Each of the skills outlined should be taught prior to the end of each school year.

Learn More About Title I

Title I is a federally funded program in Arizona that helps students meet state academic standards and succeed in school. It's part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and is formula-funded based on poverty levels. The program provides services to students who are at risk of not meeting Arizona's K-12 standards, such as those who apply for free or reduced meals. The goal is to help students improve their skills, succeed in the regular classroom, and reach grade-level proficiency. 

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including gender-based and sexual harassment and discrimination, in the District's educational programs and activities, including employment. The District is committed to maintaining an educational and working environment free from sex discrimination and harassment. Any student or employee who believes they have been subjected to discrimination on the basis of sex, or anyone who has witnessed or otherwise learned that sexual harassment has or may have occurred in a program or activity of the District, whether by students or by District employees, is encouraged to follow the procedures outlined on this site.
