A-F Letter Grades
The A-F Letter Grade Accountability System was passed by the Arizona State Legislature and the State Board of Education to provide information to families and community partners about their community schools. It is the State’s plan to satisfy the requirements for accountability outlined by the Federal Legislation, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
The K-8 Accountability Model includes:
- Student Proficiency on State ELA and Math Assessments (30%)
- Student Growth on State ELA and Math Assessments (50%)
- English Language Proficiency and Growth (10%)
- Acceleration and Readiness (10%)

The Arizona State Board of Education assigns letter grades to public schools in Arizona. The system measures year-to-year student academic growth, proficiency on English language arts, math, and science. It also includes the proficiency and academic growth of English language learners and indicators that an elementary student is ready for success in high school.
