Preschool

The Kinder Prep program is offered exclusively for four-year-olds as they prepare to enroll in kindergarten the coming fall. With a perfect blend of academics and play, students develop the key skills and experience to help them succeed in kindergarten and beyond.

Features:

• Care provided from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. at Rover
  Please Note: Kinder Prep does not offer care during school breaks (fall, winter, spring, summer, or school holidays).
• Breakfast, lunch, and snack are included.
• Taught by certified teachers and instructional assistants for 15 children.

Cost and Eligibility: 

• Available to children who are four-years-old by August 31, 2025

In partnership with the City of Tempe, Tempe Elementary Schools offers preschool at 8 school locations throughout the district. Tempe PRE is committed to kindergarten readiness with small class sizes, a play-based curriculum, and early childhood-certified teaching staff.

Features:

• Tempe PRE is a 5-day-per-week, 7-hour-per-day program. Full-time attendance is required. 
• Taught by certified teachers and instructional assistants
• Classes have a maximum of 18 children (9:1 student-to-adult ratio)
• Scholarships available
• All Tempe PRE classrooms have attained “quality” ratings in learning environment and nurturing staff-student interactions by Quality First, Arizona’s quality improvement and rating system for early learning programs.

Cost and Eligibility: 

• This program is for 3- and 4-year-olds who are fully potty-trained. Children must be 3 years old by the first day of school of the current school year. Families whose child(ren) will turn 3 between the first day of school and August 31 may still apply now and wait for their applications to be processed after their child turns 3 and space becomes available.

• Classroom space is limited

• Full tuition is $850/month or $870 with extended care: Open to all families 

• Tempe PRE also offers financial assistance for income-qualified Tempe families. Check the income level chart for details.

• For an additional $20 per month, Tempe PRE provides a before and afterschool program at select schools. Check the school list to see which locations provide the extended care.

Tempe Elementary's Peer Preschool Program is characterized by students both with and without a disability or developmental delays in a singular classroom. This enriching model helps student with special needs reach their learning goals through play and social interaction while also providing an environment where peers learn confidence, empathy, and school readiness skills.

• Taught by certified teachers and instructional assistants
• Innovative program combining both students with and without disabilities and/or developmental delays

Cost and Eligibility: 

• This program is for 3- and 4-year-olds who are fully potty-trained. There is a rolling enrollment throughout the year, so a student who turns 3 in January would be able to start attending on their birthday.
  Children must be age 3 on their first day of school 
• Cost is $300/month with a $25 registration fee.

Our Developmental Preschool program is designed specifically to cater to the unique needs of children with disabilities, providing an environment where they can thrive. Students can qualify for this program by completing the Child Find screening process.
